Slow 1/4 Mile - 5.3 2WD ECSB

Not sure what the DA was that day exactly, it was hot and humid ~1000ft above. Converter seems to be the common answer with the 220. Was trying to keep this low key as far as the converter goes, and yes I was being cheap too! This is a DD so may leave the converter alone for awhile till I need a transmission. Anyone know if the converter would bring up the MPH also? Any other thoughts? MAF was reading ~38lb/min at 6k that day if that helps at all.

hm. i was seeing 39 to 40 on my 6.0 when it was stock. but then my buddys 5.3 with a 224 cm was reading 47. can't always go by that.
but ya weather and stall. should knock off quite a bit

i figure its bad to compare my time. seeing as i run in fl with maybe 20 feet above sea level and so on.
i consider you converter now pretty much stock. when i had no stall in my truck it was a dog. like really bad. this 4000 made it insane.

Think a set of 4.10/4.56 would cover up my converter, or lack there of? I am just trying to think of the next move for this truck. I'm always itching to change stuff but hate losing MPG. I am kinda worried a high stall converter will kill my intown MPG. I am still averaging ~15 +/- a few .1s with 90% in town driving. I see 21-23 on the highway. I guess gear will probably kill my highway MPG.

4.10/4.30/4.56 gears wouldn't cover up the converter as much as a small diameter high stall converter would cover up the 3.73's. That make sense?
Low gears aren't good for making up for poor converter choice.
But, a good converter can make up for lack of gearing(to an extent).
You should also start putting your truck on a diet. At around 5000 lbs, that thing is a PIG! My big *** truck weighs 5420 with me in it, so you def have some weight you can shed.

Thanks Justin, Yeah that makes sense, exactly what I was looking for. I was just checking out your sig, that truck is mooovvvin for tire size and weight!
IMO - converter wise, it’s not that bad on the street. I just never thought it would help as much as you guys say, but then again I've never tried to make something over 3500lbs go fast either. I knew I wasn't getting a Yank or Precision... I'm cheap!
Yeah it is a PIG
not sure what its deal is... it’s a loaded SLT...
