The 278mm will drive very similar to your current converter and pick up a little on the track. How much? I don't know...

I know they're pricey, but one of the of the 258mm 1B or 2B converters might be a good compromise between DD and Race converter.

You should fill out an "Ask Chris" form on Circle-D's website and see what Chris has to say.

Also, since you have a stock transmission, keep an eye on the classifieds for a used converter.

Beatdown Z, Thanks, I will "Ask Chris" again, good thinking... I did about 6 months ago before I had all the details and a few things have changed sense. Chris recommended a 278MM when I said "I want all 3" I'll give him all the details again, explain my situation and see what he thinks!

Could a 1 > 2 shift that is taking 0.9 - 1 full second to complete be hurting me? (Logged w/ HPT)

Never found a way to make it shift any better than that in the tune, have to leave some TM in and zero force motor current at WOT to get it to shift as above. (I know I need a shift kit)

I do have the 278 and had Chris bring the stall speed down to about 2600 since i tow with my truck still... For the most part its a pretty tight converter and will flash to 2600-2700 when the pedal meets the floor

Chris sold a boat load of there converters to the tbss guys who really like them..Id say with your mods it would flash above 3k rpms.. A friend of a friend has one behind a 6oh ext cab with 125 shot and runs mid 11's with it

Chris does really good work with these converters and they are def worth the $400 IMO

I don't think you will lose too much gas mileage with a converter IF your tune is spot on, both engine and transmission wise. In fact, after I tuned AndyC3s truck with a 3800 converter, he told me his gas mileage actually went up.

Optimal timing and fueling on the engine side (as compared to the factory calibration) and reworking of the shifts points and clutch lockup on the converter to optimize efficiency. The factory calibration leaves a lot on the table, at least for the LQ4.

BadAssChevy327 - That’s pretty sick MPG depending on how you drive! - you have quite the cam and are turning some HD equipment. I see ~15 all city and 21 - 23 strictly highway. I don't drive hard all the time, but I do not poke around one bit.

You guys are reaaallly making me want to order a converter!
