Default Silly ?

Hello folks! Silly ? for you all. My gas gauge is staying pegged at full with power on. I am guessing the float is stuck any suggestions or tricks to verify this is the problem before I make the mess and pull the sender out? I already took a look at the ground wires and they appear to be ok. I just hate playing in gasoline.
Thanx
