Default Shorty Header Question

I live in cali so i have to go with shorties. I have heard the shorties are not worth the price because the stock manifolds flow just as well. I find this hard to believe. Anyone heard of this? Who makes the best shorties for the money? I dont want to go all out, but i dont want cheap either. Any info would be great

Why don't you go with LT's, Dynatech come with a catted y pipe to bolt to your stock or aftermarket catback and so do the Stainless Works LT's come with catted y pipe too.
BTW LT headers flow ALOT better and makes your exhaust sound meaner!

I have heard almost everyone on here say that the shorties are a waste of money. I have no personal experiance. One member(can't remember his name, i will try to find it) pulled his stock manifolds off, ported and smoothed them, and had them ceramic coated, they looked pretty sweet.

First of all, LT's are illegal in Ca on our trucks. Some folk dont want to risk the $2000 fine and have to see a referee every 2 years for the rest of our lifes!

I have shorty's and I do ok with them but indeed i probably would do better with LT's.
What other mods have you done?

The best mod for a Cali truck is to move out of Cali IMO.... LOL... too many goofy laws there. VA isnt much better these days though.

best you can do in CA is mids. TOGs were the best but there gone. the only outhers i can think of is DOUGS ( not thorley )
i think summet sells them. saw a pic of them and they look just like TOGs, but the flanges are 7/16" and TOGs were 1/2"

good luck

i have shorties on my truck. My truck is alot older than yours so i'm forced to use shorties. LT's won't fit my truck unless i modify them. I use pacesetters and they seem ok, They aren't great but they flow alot better than stock. I dunno if that'll help you or not but i say Pacesetter's if you want shorties.
