Default Shorties

I just bought some Gibson shortie headers. Does anyone have any installation tips that would make things go smoother. Will my stock plug wires be ok, or will I need to get new ones? I have a 2001 SCSB, Z71, 5.3, K&N Filter Charger, HPP3, 160 Stat, EGR Mod, no mufflers. Did anyone see good gains with the shorties, and if I need to get new plugs and wires what brand would you go with. Thanks for the info

Shorties are typically good for about 5rwhp. It's usualy deemed more worth while to skip the shorties and go for the longer ones.

Your plugs and wires should be fine. You can put a set of NGK TR55's in there just for the heck of it if you want.

Not exactly but i have those headers on my truck and they didn't seem to do wrong for me of course i haven't tried any others but I was pretty satisfied. And no you don't NEED to change your plugs and wires but it could help performance out a little bit for ya

You can get them at any parts store that sells NGK plugs.

I'd also recommend some mid/long tube headers but on the plug wire thing, Napa sells the NGK TR55 and you can get some Magnecor wires from one of our sponsors like thunder or tbyrne..

I put mine on in about 30 min. Snap out the plastic iner fenders, remove the plugs(so you dont accidentaly hit one and break it.), and unbolt the Y-pipe. Slide the Y back from the manifolds, then remove the manifolds. Put the shorties on and do it in reverse. Be careful not to over tighten the flange bolts. 15-18 flbs is good.

Got mine at Thunderracing.com. Hella cheaper than the parts store, plus you don't have to put up with "those aren't specified for your vehicle"
