Definately do it!! Also get a big tranny cooler. Sorry Hitman, I beat you to it!!
When you have any other questions Hitman would be the one to ask. He knows his $hit, especially with trannies.

If you have to think about it ... you need to do it! It was a very good mod, it will quicken up the shifts and help reduce the TQM. You need to get the TQM removed though.

I have the TQM removed already but what does the kit actually do
I can already increase line pressure and quicken the shift times
with the computer so why do it is my real question?

The shiftkit will do it a lot better than programing. Programming only makes the fluid move more .. the shiftkit changes the way things happen. It will help with tranny slipping and it will make the tranny last longer. Just upping the line pressure is hard on the pump and there is a whole nother line of problems that can come from that.

LOL, thanks. Flyer pretty much answered them, he's hip with the 4L60Es too. I'll add a few ¢ also...

A TransGo builds up the VB, not just increases shift firmness. The stuff it does increases the durability of the unit. Extra fluid to the clutch packs, to the band, bumped internal pressure via the boost valve, etc.

In the PSK or HD2 kits you get stuff like... .500" boost valve, heavy 1-2 accumulator spring, heavy springs for either of the OE intermediate apply servos, assorted VB accumulator springs, shift valves, etc.

You can then tailor your shifts via the seperator plate via the drill bits that are included. Best seems to be 1-2 ~.082; 2-3 ~.093; 3-4 ~.082 with stock stall or mild-med stall.

Also run at least a 'Vette servo (they are like $15) for the 2-4 band. The billet servos from Fairbanks are very trick pieces and increase band capacity ~40-50% over the OE parts. There is not a 'Vette OD servo. The billet helps the weak 4th gear shift and holding a lot and the billet intermediate help a lot with the 1-2 upshift and 3-2 downshift.

Next like greentahoe said, a big tranny cooler is cheap insurance. The B&M super cooler was shown to be a better unit by Allen (FarmTruc), he lost like 20* or more with it over a Permacool one I belive it was.

Lastly, you're gonna want an aluminum 1-2 accumulator piston as the OE is plastic and likes to crack. If it cracks that will cause pressure loss and slippage on the 1-2 upshift. And I don't run any of the included washers in the 1-2 accumulator...they just add harshness and annoyance to that 1-2 upshift.

Yup, the washers are included in the kit and go in the 1-2 accumulator. They only effect (or is it affect?) the 1-2 shift and no other.
