shift kit
#3
i got a 98. 4l60e with a vette servo. im thinking about taking it out or going back to the origional pin length. i used their corvette long pin. which is the longest and its not exactly shifting that well. it was better and faster stock. but. ive done research and for the trans. the vette servo gains 17% more holding power. thus faster shift. theres a billet servo. that holds 35% over the vette servo. for a grand total of over 52% over stock. and the maker of the billet servo sells an overdrive servo. that hold like 37% over stock. so they guarantee that you can tow 6000 pounds in overdrive. the reason being is with more holding power the band in the trans wont slip up from the torque and burn up prematurely. also. i called a trans shop and asked how much to install a shift kit on my trans. i know how to do it. but im scared of drilling my valvebody. need my truck daily. they told me that because im over 100k miles that theres no way to install a kit into it. i asked why and he said the trans may need an overhaul before i put it in and then with the kit it may make it worse. so i was shot down in my dream of a better shifting trans. so. im taking trans class at college and building my own trans. so yea my 2 pennies.
