Service 4wd Dummy Light?
What is supposed to be checked/changed here? Gear oil in transfer case? Beyond that how can I get rid of the damned light.... The manual just says take to dealer (course it leaves out the "Write Check" part.
Thanx in advance.

Re: Service 4wd Dummy Light?
It means that a failure code has been stored. I've had to replace either the mode selector switch (the part with the 4wd buttons <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0"> ), and sometimes the encoder motor, which is located on the transfer case. If you had the number of the actual failure code I can probably tell you where to start. You would probably have to get it to a dealership to pull the code.

Re: Service 4wd Dummy Light?
Thanx!
I tried to pull a code with my Snap-On scanner with no luck. The truck is still under bumper-bumper so I suppose I should just take it in. I just didn't want to take it in and have my local Chev dealer tell me "Ya need to change the fluid, that'll be $65.18 for the diagnosis". Lets just say the local Chev dealer is like that. <img src="gr_sad.gif" border="0">
