Well I never actually looked on the website I just read the specs out of the magazine I have from them. Here is a scan of the page and I circled the -6 "overlap" that is printed. Is this just a missprint or does the -6 stand for something else?

According to http://sdparts.com/category/ls-gen-i...ormance?page=4

HT1 SDPC LSX Truck Cam 214/218 .559/.562 111 (CC54-ST1-11) Intake Center Line: 109

Looks like a 111+2 to me.

And as previously noted, this should be nothing like a the comp hi lift 212/218 which has a 115LSA with no advance ground in.
Bing bing bing, we have a winner! This cam has 2* of advance ground into it, and -6 is the overlap.

i just dont see that cam out performing a comp 212/218 lowlift
It may sound more aggressive because its on a 111LSA vs 114LSA on the comp

Since the part number has a "CC" in it, it makes me think that it's a Comp grind...could be Crane, as they used to grind SDPC's cams, but that stopped when Crane went belly up and I don't believe that SDPC renewed the contract when Crane was bought and reopened it's doors...not 100% sure though so don't quote me on that lol. I am curious now though...might give SDPC a call when I get a chance and ask them who grinds their cams now...

Lift is free horsepower with do ill side effect like increased duration can have, I think it will run great with it! The 111 will make it chop nastier, make the torque come in quicker and have a lil more "peakier" and more "narrow" power band vs the 114.

No way your cam is junk man, no need to get pissy. You know that you have a nice torquey bumpstick, and what good is HP without torque to get you up there My cam isn't junk, and it has less everything than yours lol.

LOL i was just picken!
All these guys preaching about lift.
Some of the best small cams are low lift and can hang with the higher lift more duration cams!
I just dont see stressing valve train so much with a head that doesnt flow much after 550.
With a better flowing head i am all for more lift

i know this is taking the thread a little more off topic, but i thought overlap had more to do with idle characteristics (lope, chop, whatever) than just the LSA. Not trying to stir anything up, just trying to learn more about cams.

Im not knockin your cam at all Grey, I have always seen improvments in power with lift being the only difference. You are right, more lift, more spring needed. I actually have considered the same cam you have and the one mentioned in this post.
