Well, I am planning on running 93 octane starting this week. I know to run the tank down close to empty, but I have heard that it is hell on the fuel pump to run under 1/4 of a tank, especially with as little miles as I have on my truck. So the question is, where is a safe level of 87 octane fuel to have in the tank to go ahead and add in the 93 without having problems?

No, it won't be tuned for it right now, but will in a few months, so being bored and getting close to time to fill up anyways I figured I'd may as well do it. So can anyone tell me the safest level to fill with the new octane at?

Since it will a couple of month before the tune, I would not worry too much about the safe level of 87 when the tune is installed because the tank will have but 93 in it. But if you are going to get a tune in a couple of days I would run the tank until the light comes and then fill it up with 93.

I have not heard that at all, if anything it will be the average of the 2 (5 gal-87, mixed with 5 gal-93 will give you 90), but never lower than 87 unless you descide to put the garden hose in your tank but then you would be screwed.
I have mixed 114 leaded, with 93 unleaded and did not notice any performance difference than run straight 114 but this was on a dirtbike, I was running a mixture of 2 gal of 93 and 3 gal of 114.
