Default s10 w\6psi vs silverado w/6psi race results.

Well today on our lunch break we finally raced, I have the s10 with the wynjammer, and the silverado has a whipple with 6 psi, and meth injection.
From 25mph to 95 mph the s10 was in the lead with the silverado walking me at around 95 mph. From a dead stop, it was pretty even till about 55 mph , than the silverado would start to pull away.
Not a bad race at all. As a matter of fact the silverado was quite impressed with the s10.
I TOLD HIM THAT i would be ready for a rematch as soon as he helps me put in the 3:73's. right now my truck is runnin 3:08's witha 5 speed. Hopefully that will help me out.
Comment away guys.
Nick

Could be your driving skills on a 5spd. No offense, but it takes some skill to master when to shift, and how to launch to get things right. More often then not, redlining each gear is not the fastest way to get to the line.

But yeah those gears should do wonders off the line.

That's cool!

My previous truck was a 99 S-10 with a Powerdyne SC. It was always fun to surprise V-8 vehicles that did not expect a 4wd S-10 to give them a good run...

I was shifting right around 5200, thats where the torque curve supposedly drops allittle. I dont know, I will try some other shifting methods,.

Just try to shift to where your RPM's drop to where your power band is. On my Subaru, red lining each gear cost me about 2/10th's.

went back out tonight and played around with the silverado and the s10, this time he drove mine and I drove his. With him drivin it was alot better, they are pretty close, actually really close, but his truck seems to pull alittle better on top end, so like I said, once we put the 3:73's in there it should make a huge difference.

Careful with those 3.73's. The first gear in those S10's is about 4-1, and will be almost useless with a 3.73. I used to run my S10 with the 5spd/3.73 combo, and first gear was only good till about 20-25 maybe. If you are 3.08 now, maybe try a 3.42 instead. Unless you plan on launching in 2nd. Another mod to consider if you havent done it already is exhaust, your engine is moving a lot more air now.
BTW- nice run. Didnt know who to root for on that one myself.

Thanks for the props. Well the silverado usually runs around with the 10 psi, but he made an exeption .
As for the exhaust, right now I have 3in cat back to the muffler , and dual 2 1/2, But my biggest restriction is my Y pipe.
