It's kinda hard to see from my pics, but I basically had the 'y' portion cut off and had the shop weld in my x-pipe right where the two collector pipes come together. The pipes just went side by side there on out.

You can click the pictures for bigger versions, too.

And I personally went with 2.25" pipes for my duals because I wanted to keep a semblance of torque in the lower rpms. The slightly smaller pipes, which still add together to be a hair larger cross-sectional area than a single 3" pipe, help keep the exhaust gas velocity up in the lower part of the rpm range.

Some folks say go with 2.5" duals even on a 5.3. If you got a stall in that tranny along with your 4.10 gears, you can likely flash right through any loss of low-end torque, but it's your call.

ive got duals running side by side down the passenger side of the truck on my sss, not really any other way to do it...if i were you id have a shop cut the pipes where they join together and weld up a 3" x-pipe then step it down to 2.5" after the x so you dont lose alot of low end, dual 3'' all the way back is way too big IMO unless youre running a big cam or a s/c

I have an X on my true duals as well but I'm running 18 inch bullet mufflers. I went with 2.5" all the way though. Mine is also dumped but it sounds very good IMO.
