Mobil1 goes on sale at WallyWorld all of the time...I've never seen it for $2 a quart, but I have seen some pretty good deals. I've done pretty well buying the 4 and 5 quart containers in the past...I think that AutoZone had the 5 qt 5w-30 for $23 last time I was there...

I've noticed that most of us will say "I've been using X brand of oil for years and never had a problem", which is usually the case with any name brand of oil changed at the proper intervals. Conventional oil changed at the proper intervals won't give you any problems, and synthetic will give you a little more protection and an extended oil change interval. I'm sure that this has been covered in the past, but as long as you perform the proper maintenance, you shouldn't have any problems aside from abuse or normal wear and tear. If you can afford it, and using a certain brand of oil helps you sleep at night, then go with what makes you feel good.

I highly recommend to anybody who has any questions in regards to oil and filters that they visit www.bobistheoilguy.com ....there's a ton of great info on that site, enough to make your head spin and still have more left over for tomorrow.

Agreed. I'm still use the dino oil and haven't had any problems. I use Cen-pe-co oil and I couldnt be happier. We run it in all of our tractors and other farm equipment as well.

i pretty much second that entire statement. I continue to run RP for the simple fact that I made the switch from conventional to RP because I heard good things, I liked the results (probably would have got same reqults if I switched to M1) so I plan to stick with the stuff...

Really what I like about it is the life... I feel like it has a really long life, especially combined with the RP filter

Yea, its not worth it. The people that feel a difference are the same people that feel a difference with a throttle body spacer.
if your gonna go with that i would just get mobil1 synthetic...im runnin it in my truck and i could tell a difference when i switched...
This is rather scary for your engine's sake... I have never herd of someone looking to use high-quality oils in hopes of gaining power, or "feeling a difference". That is honestly sad and rediculous....

Base your oil purchases on how well you wish to take care of your engine. Think of the money your spending as insurance for your motor. If you rip on your truck daily, then Royal Purple would definitely be a better option over conventional oils, because it's not going to break down as quickly. IMO, if your looking at spending the money to gain HP then your an idiot who deserves to waste it. If your looking to spend the extra money to safeguard your investment, then your doing it for the right, realistic reasons and will be satisfied with the money spent.

Personally, I run Mobil Clean 5000 which is a synthetic blend I believe, and usually change it at 3000 miles regularly. However, I ran my mileage up to 4500 last time before I changed it. It was BY FAR the cleanest brown oil I have ever seen that has that kind of mileage on it. I was amazed, and will probably never change from Mobil products again.

FWIW, if you have a high performance engine that you push regularly, or you just wish to take the best possible care of your engines internals no matter the cost, then I would without a doubt go with Amsoil. If you don't want the hassle of finding a dealer and would rather go the convenient route, I would go with Mobil 1 full synthetic. If you want a top notch conventional oil at an Excellent value, use the Mobil 5000 red cap.

I just switched to RP, engine runs smoother and it is not as loud as before. I also just started to do my own oil changes. Getting laid off does have its positives!!!
