Re installing valves
#1
I'm going to do a little cleaning up of a set of 852s heads I've got. Is there any way for me to re-install my own valves? I'm not enlarging them or anything. Just want to be able to put the stock ones back in. Is that an option?

i am no expert but i think if you do that, keep track of the hole it came out of and put them back in the same hole... Might as well change out the valve seals while your at it...

The exhaust and intake valve stem seaLS ARE DIFFERENT, but they aren't hard to change as a twist of a pair of pliers will pull them right off, a dab of oil and a finger push will install the new ones. now gettin inot the valves, you could mark them and put em all back in the same place, or you could use some good ole valve grinding compound and a cordless drill and lap the valves yourself, but be careful.

so do the valve have to go back in the same exact position they were or does it just need to go back in the same hole? Meaning could you rotate the valve 50* and put in back in and it be OK?

I'm no expert, but I imagine the valve would spin with the valve spring so it wouldn't really matter on position??? I can't say for sure though
On the couple sets of heads I've put together, I've just put them back in the same hole and lapped them in.

I would lap them as recommended previously in this thread.
