Default raising compression

if the escalde only has 6/10ths of a point higher compression and a more aggressive pcm tune and it got 45 more hp (dont know if they overrated it or not), what would milling our heads to raise ours to 10.5:1 do hp wise?

would this be safe, no worries about detonation or anything right? and plenty of room left so piston wouldnt hit head?

for how cheap it would be (if u pull heads urself) im wondering why more people arent doing it to their trucks.

there wouldnt be a need for any pcm tuning would there after that?

thanks,
bryan

Not sure what your stock truck compression ratio is, but raising the CR a full point on the LS1 is worth about 3% gain in power. Stock LS1s come in at 10.1 CR

I'm running 11.1 CR now, and have no problems. But, keep in mind that you may have to allow the engine to run cooler (T-stat, no cats) to let the heat get out of the manifolds better to prevent detonation. My car will ping sometimes in 6th gear at lower rpm under load when I have the catalytics on.

No tuning necessary for raised compression.
