Engine Diag > Test Parameters > Max Air ETC

Table is labeled 'Max MAF airflow for ETC' and is rpm vs g/cyl.

What was your HO spark table set to? Did your timing pull fluctuate or was it steady? Did you have the abuse parameters out of functional use so that they weren't actually working?

Ben ... I looked the files over. It looks like I got everything. Thanks for the reference files though.

Do you want my stock and RADIX file from the 5.3? My timing tables are a little higher, like about 2.5-3.3* where it matters.

Burst knock occurs when airflow is increased at a certain rate (if air is pushed in at a fast rate, it will put in this knock retard for safety of the fuel to catch up)

When i first installed the Whipple, i noticed from cruising speed if i gave it about 20% more throttle it would feel "jerky" like the timing was all messed up. Needless to say I set the burst knock table to Zeros -no more jerky, misadvanced timing

I had the table set to 16 in every cell that was even close to the airflow and rpm that this was happening at.

Timing would be ~25 sitting there idling, then as soon as I floored it it would drop to 6 every time. It would take until 5000 rpm to recover back to 16 degrees.

Every abuse table was zeroed out AND turned off. So they shouldn't have been working.

I have read about people using the spark retard limit to keep timing up. Seems to work. I noticed that the Base Spark in Drive table has a pretty large jump in the airflow range where Flyer's problem occurs (from ~0.8g/cyl to over 0.9g/cyl).
I think if Max Air ETC was the problem you would see the throttle position drop. You might make sure all of your Max Torque tables are maxed out...
PCM Connectors - I have the newer blue/green. Blue/red is the older version. I think the blue/green started in '02-'03, along with electronic TB.

*I wanted it on this page too.

Black .. are you talking abou tthe spark retard limit set to 16 all the way across? I don't think I'm having trouble launching it, I can't get it under enough load to test it really.

Something someone said made me think about the Base Spark in gear table though. I'm gonna check it out.

Good info, I was curious if all the trucks with problems had the newer pcm. I have a ecm out of a 04 GTO, it has cable throttle and blue/green connector. The SS Silverado has blue green also. The original SS Silverado's where done on a 01 sierra c3 with fly by wire, they have blue/red.
Just looking for the interconnecting thread to fix this problem before I release my turbo kit.

Mine has a green connector on it.

I got a good log I think of when it was doing this problem and when it wasn't on a part throttle acceleration. I will pilfer through it and post up when I get a chance.

I think I did smooth out the idle a little bit. I think everything I was going in the opposite direction of getting it on the right track. I dunno ... I wish I had the funds and resources to take the thing and just get it professionally tuned down in San Antonio.

Flyer - no need, thanks. That's just my stock Radix file, not my current loaded file.
