Radix boost/bypass valve question...
#1
I'm having a bit of a hard time getting an idea of what it's like to daily-drive with a Radix.
Say I'm cruising at 60mph. The bypass valve is open, so there is no unneeded parasitic losses. How "quickly" does the valve start to close, when you roll on the throttle? Is there any sort of a lag where you're only making "stock" power until the valve closes? The Magnuson site makes it sound like a on/off switch. Can it be adjusted?
Yes, I'm considering a blower...
I'd hate to get it, only to find out I can only notice the power when I smack the pedal down. I'd want to notice 'something' even pulling away from a stop-sign at my usual slow-poke pace. (Which is most of the reason why I've been looking to stay N/A)

The Radix comes on smooth and quick. Towing with the Radix is awesome. Before, my tranny would shift up and down through the mountains. Now, it stays in 3rd and the radix supplies the extra power rather than downshifting to a lower gear to make more power. You don't have to put the petal to the floor to get boost. If i roll into the throttle, I see about 3-4 lbs of boost. The valve is not like an on/off switch. You don't feel it open or close, however, you do feel and hear when the supercharger starts making boost. Hope this helps.

at any speed or RPM, I can just lightly tap the throttle, say 1/4 throttle and it will get into boost. If its at say -8 psi (vacuum) on the highway, I can watch the boost gauge slowly go up to 0 then into boost as I gradualy increase the throttle. If it doesn't downshift it will get into boost very easily, and if it does downshift (which is does very easily) it will quickly climb into boost.
To answer your question simply....you dont have to smack down the pedal at all to see boost, in fact you could probably see almost full boost at 75% throttle on the highway. I can take a video of what I'm talking about if alot of people are interested
