I don't know for sure but the oil pans I have put back on I just used a star pattern kind of like on the lug nuts and I never had any problems. I wouldn't think it would make a huge difference as long as it is sealed well around the gasket.

Why are you dropping the oil pan for a cam swap? I just started in the middle, alternated back and forth and worked my way towards the outside....

He's putting an LS2 Chain on. Just be careful to not overtighten the two long rear bolts, they strip easy.

There is a pattern, but kind of hard to show or explain what it is on here. But....you start in the middle, go from one side then the other (L to R), then move your way toward the back until you have tightened all. Then work your way to the front in the same fashion. 18ft lbs.

FWIW, I've had mine either off or dropped some and have never used the pattern and no leaks. Not recommending that, just relaying my experience.

From ls1howto.com....
Now, retighten up the oil pan bolts. The smaller bolts get torqued to 106 INCH lbs, or about 9 foot lbs, while the bigger bolts get torqued to 18 lb/ft. Note: You WILL break those smaller headed bolts if you go past the 9 lb/ft as specified.

No pattern was specified, I checked a couple of places.

The pattern came from a Haynes manual.

My "How to build LS1" book says to tighten them down in a radial pattern starting with the center bolts.
