Default Question for you engine swap fellas.......

Lets say I was to swap my 4.8 for a 6.0....
(note I have an '03 / the motor is a '00)
The 6.0 is pretty much complete with the exception of an intake and some other little things....would this motor just drop right in, connect everything and be driveable, or would I need to worry about anything computer related?
Your responses are needed ASAP!!

Thanks

Yes it would be driveable but You would need to get it tuned for maximum performance The bad thing is that you have an 03 but it would work and i would suggest getting ls1 edit when it becomes available for the 03's

The 99 and 00 6 liter motors do not physically fit into our trucks (at least as a drop in and run replacement). They have a longer crank and will bind up the the converter into the transmission. Do a search about this issue on this forum. Plus the 00 models had iron heads and the 01+ 6Ls have good flowing aluminum heads.

Basically, stay away from those 6L motors. There are qute a few floating around, and they aren't worth near as much as the newer ones.

The person selling it says they are aluminum heads, and says the block will go right in.

IslandTahoe,
You would need a 2001+ 6.0L for a simple swap.

03 pewter see if it has LS1 heads. If it does then don't buy it because he might have swapper the iron for the aluminum. That is what happened with that one guy on here and he got screwed.

sleek, it'll be a direct replacment in your case and will run with stock program but you will need tuning to make it run GOOD.
