The VSC's have a history of crapping out. I don't know what version you have or how much FAL has done to remedy VSC problem, but I do know they were busting hump trying to make their products work and save their reputation. They are good folks and will take care of you. But you gotta call them. The suppliers where they got their stuff put the screws to them. They finally fixed the melting fuse & holder problem with a smaller hard plastic plug in fuse holder. If you have the one with a soft rubber fuse cover call FAL.
After I did the following I had several hot summer months of trouble free operation and got a new truck and sold them.
It is VERY important that the main + & - connections be made to the battery posts in any fuse holder type of setup. These fans really move some air so they pull current. Don't ground to the frame, go to the battery. Don't hook the positive anywhere but to the battery.
I had the audio shop type of gold plated side post replacement bolts that have a nice 3/8" bolt on the end for other connections. You can get large wire eyelet crimp connectors from an audio shop also.
Also if you decide to try the FAL setup, make sure the VSC connections are tight. If they are still the Sta-Con type and they slide on too easily, just crimp them a hair to get a good tight fit. Also put some tape over the temp adjustment hole when you are finished with the install and setup.
If I had to buy their fans again knowing what I do now, I would call them and let them know I have heard all the bad press about their VSCs' being unreliable and am not very confident rather or not they will strand me out on the road. And If they did not convince me I would ask for a refund on the VSC and go get a Delta or Nelsonperformance.com harness. You paid for the VSC why toss it and but another. Hear them out. Let us know.
Good Luck.

I had the melting fuse holder, then the vsc crapped out on me driving between Laredo and San Antonio last summer. The guy from FAL sounded very sympathetic on the phone when I told him what happened, and by the next day when I arrived in Beaumont they had overnight shipped a replacement. I originally ordered the fans through Summit, so by the time I got back to Atlanta I had a spare that Summit shipped to my house. Since I now have a spare, as luck would have it, I have had no more problems.
