Default Question about the 2500 vs 2500HD

ok tomarrow were going down to the Dealer for another lookse, when we finally end up getting one were gonna have to order it because I want quad steer and non of the dealers seem to have that. anywho getting a 2500CC now on teh regular 2500 vs 2500HD us the same frame ( as in the 2500 have the same 2 inch taller frame ). next year the 2500 is going to be the 1500HD again and I heard the last 1500HD did have the taller frame.

i just traded in my 1500hd lt ccsb for a 2500 ecsb.the truck was great but i couldn't take the mpg anymore! as this truck is an 8600 gvwr and the hd is 9200 the hd's,frame is bigger.
check out the pics.i haven't had a chance to take any of the new one yet,but i did keep the tires and wheels and i'm trying to sell the step bars.
good luck on your new truck.

taller frame = more load with less frame bending. Shouldn't effect your towing capabilities at all.

IMHO, unless you really need the 2500HD or want the diesel or something; a 2500 is beast

The 2500 is the hot-rod of stock trucks (you might even call it the REAL SS)........you get all of the good parts (6.0, 4L80, 14bolt rear, 4.10 gears, AutoTrac t-case) with very little of the weight gain associated with the bigger trucks (my ECSB 2500 weights 5600, my friends ECSB 1500 weights 5490....I'll take an extra 110 lbs to get all the good parts)

And to top that off....my towing capacity is 10,200 lbs....that's only 500lbs shy of the HD version of my truck

the way i look at this is unless you want the diesel or big block, you might as well get the lighter 2500 over the 2500hd.

well the main reason i wanted to know was because the the taller frame is like a free body lift from the factory for putting on bigger tires (and also leaving the bumper bolted correctly ), didnt think about the weight though ,that would definlty help MPG and going in the sand.
