I have owned 2 5.3 trucks, an 04' RCSB with tune, intake and exhaust with 3.73s that ran a 14.7.
My current truck is a 06' ECSB with the exact same setup, and it runs 15.0s, but with 20in wheels.

I just dont see 13s from a 5.3 without going into the engine, or running a shitload of stall and gutting the truck.

As for the 4.8s, id expect them to be 5 tenths slower with the same mods.
YEAH, THOSE 4.8's really suck!

My 4.8 RCSB went 15.25 with stock tuning, magnaflow muffler and 3.73 gears with posi, and stock air cleaner. Thats with stock wheels and a 27" tire. With nitrous its going 14.2 and thats with 20's.

I wouldnt say that at all. People have proven tha the 4.8 has much potential, and is very tough. I was mostly responding to the claims of 13s with a tune, CAI and a catback.

As for the 4.8, all things being equal, same truck, same mods, same tranny, its about .5 slower than a 5.3. Obviously these are not exact numbers.

i guess?

i thought about adding a throttle body spacer to really up the anty?

my brother actually commented that i had put too much $$ in mine already, so i figured it up. with all the parts/labor/tuning i have about $3000 tied up in the performance aspect. not bad though, when you consider it has dropped way over 2 full seconds in the 1/4, maybe closer to 3... i never ran the 1/4 stock.

what do you think my 04 ecsb 4x4 would run... i have CAI, exhaust, LT's and tune with 3.73 gears on stock rims 265/70/17 and how much slower would it be if i went up 2 tire sizes to 285/70/17 ?

Ok so I have true duals now, and my goal is 14s. Will a CAI/Exhaust/ Custom tune get me into the 14.5ish area??

Its doubtful.
