Default Quarter mile times? Please :D

Just bought my 08 SC chevy (4.8). I did a forum search but can't find ANY track times

So I was wondering, what does the average person run stock with these trucks? Best I've seen at the track has been low 16s...

Also there's some people on other forums that SWEAR with a CAI,EXHAUST, TUNE they can run low 14s. Thats BS right? How can a few bolt ons knock off 2 seconds :/

I do hear that the new silverados are WAY under tuned and that it is possible to knock up to a second off your quarter mile with a custom tune? Would that void my warrenty though?

Not too sure on the 4.8 motors but guys with the 5.3's running cai,lt's,3.73 gears and a tune are running high 13's fairly often.
The 4.8 with the same mods shoudn't be too far behind it maybe low 14's.
Yes a tune by it self will void your warrenty unless you are able to put it back to stock in case you ahd to bring it to the dealer for work to be performed.

Would a local "big name" tuner be able to tune it and "untune" it if needed?

i ran a 15.1 in my reg cab stepside 4.8/5spd, broke the G80 but i still did it lol.

all i had at the time was a pos previous owner straightpiped exhaust and a K&N drop in, it was about 40* ambient, 75* track temp.

hopin to hit some low(er/ish) 14's for this year, which according to my math should be possible assuming i get a good hook, and a 2K clutch dump won't break the rear like the 4K dump did

Wow a 15.1 basically stock. Nice. I'm hoping to get CAI/Tune and with my true dual exhaust (OMG thats like 5 HP! ) be in the 14-14.5 area. Possible?

RCSB??? Makes a difference in the weight. EXCB usually a few tenths slower.

I see sorry it's a SC, that will put u a bit behind the lighter trucks but 14's are possable. Easy if you go with FI or N20.

yeah i have a little advantage since mine is a reg cab stepside and it was only about 1/8th tank of gas. Plus it gets nice and cold at night up here in the summers which really helps.

not saying i could replicate the times...probably ever, but my timeslip doesn't lie.

sad part is i still got my *** handed to me by a full banks kit 1ton reg cab dodge dually lol
