Dude, Colby I want to lend an inexperienced hand when you do the swap. I have hands so with the opposable thumbs I am at least better than a trained monkey. I have plenty of time before I make a final decision for a 6.0 or not, in addition to the radix. I want to learn as much as I can in the mean time, see if the swap is something I want to tackle.

TR224 seems like a decent choice. See what Ed Curtis has to say, Beau seem please with the service so far. We'll see what his cam can do soon. Email Allen Nelson and see what he suggests.

I appreciate the offer to be a go'fer Hopefully your schedule will work out so you can be around for it. It looks like the actual engine transplant is still a good month or more away. It may take that long to gather everything up.

I'll give Allen a call since he'll be tuning it anyhow. Ed Curtis...is he the custom grind fella?

Is it easier/safer to drop the driveshaft and unbolt the tranny mount to slide the tranny back for extra clearance? Or is that possible? I don't recall having any problems with clearance when I installed the engine in my '81...

but that means I have to pull the tranny with the old motor, lol. I guess that will work. The new engine is supposed to come with the "wiring", I assume the harness is intact. dunno?

dude its simple. what i did was remove my hood, didnt have to but did it for the sake of no accidents. i also removed my grill and my upper rad bracket. with that out of way you ahve all the room in the world to move it outward. like stated i pulled motor, harness, tranny, accesorries all as one. installed them all as one also. actually when ipulled the 5.3 out i removed the alt and used that bolt for the chain and a bolt in the passenger side head. but for the install i just used 2 bolts in the heads and installed it complete. i did also remove the front brace under the motor to help in aid with movement and clearance for the oil pan. also with everything out as one its alot simpler to mount trans, stall and this way you know all bolts are tight

Honestly, I would use the intake manifold, harness, and fuel system from your current engine, and just swap the LQ9 longblock in. There won't be any worry of compatibility issues with connections that way.

What kind of exhaust setup do you plan on running as that should impact your cam selection. Also do you anticipate any kind of head work?
