If you just wash and dry your K&N's, your probably not keeping much dirt our of your engine!

Bummer about no gains, however, I still like the design, why?
You could easily rivet some aluminum sides to it and fill it with ice or Dry Ice, greating a tub.

Let's try it on my 4.8L. It's got to be worth at least 5hp.

Weedo- Was the filter heavily oiled? I've seen that really kill power so bad I don't even oil K&N's any more. Just wash and dry.

Kevin
No, it wasn't that heavily oiled. Right about where it should be. I like the design, and it was VERY easy to install. I started by taking out the plastic fenderwell lining and realized I didn't even have to do that. It installs from the top by removing a plate (this plate looks like a battery-holder plate). Total time was about 5 minutes swapping it out, and it looked great. My guess is that if this intake didn't show any gains on my truck, NONE of them will. Maybe a ram-air type, but that wouldn't show on the dyno anyway.

Man I wish it showed me some gains! I was hoping to cross the 300awhp mark with just intake/exhaust!

Well, I wish I could explain. Ive seen time after time significant gains with this unit. Most of our testing has been done in much warmer temps where im sure the unit helps significantly more. We also test with the hoods down to create heatsoak, a real world condition since I dont think many of us drive with the hoods up. And finally, we do battery disconnects/resets which may or may not make a difference, but I believe that they do considering we are changing airflow dramatically.

Still looking for a bone stock candidate to come try it out, and to do the testing as we have done before.

I still like the design of this intake because it focuses on reducing IAT's, where most of the others just pull in hotter air than the stock setup.

I agree, it's a good idea to get someone else with a bone stock truck to test this on. Every car I've ever tested myself (there has been plenty), an intake shows MORE gain on a vehicle with an exhaust than without as it allows the better flow breathing in to exit with less restriction. But every design is different, and I have no doubt Todd is telling exactly what this intake did on the truck(s) they tested.

Based on the design of this thing, I can't imagine any other intake out there would produce MORE power. The same, maybe, but not more. The flow of the tube looks great, and the base, separating the engine heat from cooler air of the fenderwell is a perfect fit.

I did not test this with the hood closed. Again, this could make a difference from the hot underhood temps to the "outside" temps, especially when traveling down the road.

Don't give up on this yet! I just stated what it showed on my truck, with a cat-back, on a cool night.
