So many you guys in this forum have problems with 4L60 pans, I have done a share of 4L60 pans and on the first one bumped the 2-3 shift solenoid cause of trying to install the pan backward. What I did since then is mark with a black marker or punch where the front of the pan is. And overfilling will cause slip, if the fluid level is high enough it will become cavitated by the rotating assembly. Air is mixed with ATF and air is compressable so when you try to engauge an apply device clutch or band it takes longer (slips).
MY ADVICE ON THE 0 RING AND FILTER- Both are not required providing the transmission is in good function and has been serviced routinely. I have only changed the 0 ring on 2 of the 4L60s i've ever serviced, you create more problems trying to take the old 0 ring out then its worth, you are probley going to score the sealing surface then the 0 ring is useless. If you do have problems taking it out crush it inward with a radiator hose tool.
The Filter, it isnt' a filter we only call it that cause we have called it that for so long. Its a 400 micron mesh screen for trapping metal chips whatever does get trapped in the screen gets -backflushed- into the trans pan once you turn the vehicle off so long as you routinely ever year or 12,000miles service the trans pan and clean it off well you should never have to replace the transmission screen.

LOL, well I tried to install those ****** billet servos to no avail...had to get my box towed for $125...then I went ahead and tossed in my TransGo at the same time. That was a bad way to spend $500 all of a sudden
