Default Predator owner question

Since installing my gears, I changed my shift points to 5900 rpms since the truck accelerates so much faster through the gears. Now it seems to hit the rev limiter for a moment before shifts, instead of just shifting hard like before. I know the maximum rpms that you can program the limiter to is 6000rpms. Is 5900 rpms too high a shift point for the predator to compensate for? I now set my shift points back to 5800rpms and it works better now.

Your mph must be set correctly as well. I have seen the same thing with my Prtedator. I think if you set your mph for the shifts lower and the max rpm higher it will try to hit the max rpm. I may have it backwards. Its been a few weeks since I've messed with mine. I remember having my mph set too high and the rpm too low to acheive that mph and it sounds like you hitting a rev limit, which you are. I'll see what my setting are and get back to you.

I had mine shifting at 5850, but I had to drop it down to 5750 because of the same reason...

both criteria have to be met in order for the trans to shift, so if you have your mph set at 30mph and your rpm set at 6000rpms, the pcm will shift the trans at 6000rpm's. If you have your shifts at 49mph and rpm's at 5200rpm, it will shift at 40mph (this is in 1st btw)

hope this helps,

allen

I have never messed with my shift points to MPH. I always set them at the rpm that i want and it has always worked fine for me Shift right at 6200 rpm and shift 6000 in second

You can only set the rev limiter to 6000 with the Predator

With my HPP3 its at 6200 and I shift at 6000, no problems at all

I have my rev limiter set for 6000, the 1-2 shift for 5900 and 42 mph, the 2-3 shift if for 5850 and 82 mph. Works well for me!

Hmm, only a problem in first to second shift. It has always appeared to shift right at the rpm point that I have put in. But now when it shifts at 5900 rpms, it seems like the motor is cutting the power, then it gradually shifts into 2nd. I put it back to 5800rpm shift, and it shifts strong and lunges me into the seat, I know it takes the tranny a moment to shift, and I think it bounces off the rev limiter before shifting! Just need to adjust the max rpms I think. I will contact diablosport, and ask them.

I had to get a custom tune from them when I went from from 3.42 to 3.73's t weeks ago because I couldn't get the speedo to register correctly. When I changed the tire sizes to compensate it didn't fix the speedo and my abs and break light came on.

May be the Predaotr isn't calculating for the new gears correctly, I've heard they do have problems with tire size changes also.
