Default predator

is the diagnostic functions on a predator "married" to the original truck as well or can that be used on another truck of equal make/year/motor etc.?

No! I used mine on a Lumina LTZ and Monty Z34 just fine and a 99 2500.
Just the programming part is married.

EDIT: I used the code reader in the cars, but used the real-time diagnostic part on the truck.
