Default PRC Stage 1 LS6 Heads Question

Hey guys,

I just ordered a set of PRC Stage 1 LS6 Heads from TSP. I asked to have them milled to 62cc. Will that be a good volume or should I change it to 63cc or 64cc given my mods for the 2011 Sierra 5.3 in the signature? I don't want to increase compression, given that the stock 5.3 heads are 61.15cc. Also, what size pushrods will I be looking at having for say 62cc?

Any input would be appreciated!

Your 5.3 has LS6 heads on it stock (799 casting). The chamber volume on them is 64cc. If it were me I'd increase it a little, drop compression. Hair, and turn up the boost!! Let that whipple do work!!

Thanks Vortec. Exactly what me and my tuner have in mind. I hope TSP did not start working on my heads yet. I would probably go up to 65 or 66cc as I would be running very high boost, around 18 psi. I read somewhere that stock 5.3 heads are 61.15cc, not sure if they are the older castings.

Yup. Older castings. Generally the 5.3's that are rated at 285 hp

You dont want to go crazy with the compression otherwise it will be a complete dog out of boost.

66-68 would be an improvement for you. I'm sure someone else can chime in with more detail.
