Poll: Twin-screw or 383 LS1?
Should I add a twinscrew supercharger to my current set-up or just save and build the LS1?
The LS1 build would be:
-Eagle 4.000" Crank ($1000)
-Eagle or Crower rods ($300-500)
-Mahle pistons ($500)
-FMS stage 2 5.3 heads (~$1500)
-FMS cam (230/232-.595/.585-113) ($400)
-FMS ported LS6 oil pump (already bought)
-FMS dyno-tune ($450)
-43lb injectors (~$300???)
Adding to my current set-up would be:
-Kenne Bell Supercharger (used=$2500)
-8-10lbs of boost (~$100 or so for a pulley)
-water injection (~$400-500)
-4x lb injectors (comes with kenne bell)
-FMS dyno-tune (~$450)
I don't know which would make more power Allan told me that this 383 head/cam combo, dyno-tune, along with the truck intake would make at least 420rwhp and a little more for the torque.
I'm thinking I should just do the 383, it would be a whole lot easier to save for and buy a couple of things at a time. What do ya'll think?

I don't see it making 420rwhp very easy in a truck chassis.
I see a TON of F-bods with mild strokers or heads/cam combos and those very rarely get over 420rwhp unless they go all out. On LS1Tech people will have you believe that a simple cam swap with 520dur-981lift-104LSA on stock heads will net you 450rwhp in an LS1!!!
I think you have the potential to make more power with the blower and a good cam then you will with the stroker and heads/cam. That's just me though.

I believe it can be done with the stroker. I know somebody that had an ext. cab (1994 model silverado) with an LS1 and 4L60E out of a vette making around 350-365rwhp. He had the TR224-114 cam, full bolt-ons, dyno-tuning and stage 1 headwork. He's on the site, his name on here is Anidote00. I don't see why a 6.2L 383 LS1 with 37 more cubic inches, more cam, and bad-*** heads couldn't net about 420 rwhp in my truck. The dynos I've seen for some 383s are pushing close to 485-490rwhp in the cars, but that's on the internet. By the way, I just seen a truck video of yours, very impressive!

I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm just saying you wont get there buy just picking soem stuff off the shefl. You will have the have the motor, heads, and cam selection all done correctly so they compliment eachother. Too many people just buy a set of heads they hear flow well, then they buy whatever cam is the flavor of the month without any regard to flow #s on thos heads or what their final compression ratio will be.
It'll also be more expensive to do it N/A. But if you can pull it off you'll look cooler in the eyes of real gearheads.

All motor is sweet, but so is having a blower. As a life long gearhead, its cooler to see a 300whp truck a shade tree mechanic built than a 600whp 10 second truck that was bought.
I'd go with the blower because it leaves you with more options and power potential.

I know everyone wants more power NOW and for good reasons! Either one will give you some good power. let me ask you this-is this basiclly the end of mods on your truck as far as power goes? Either doing a SC or a motor and for the most part your done with the trucks power? If your gonna end up getting a SC and then later on do a motor-I wouldnt. Do the motor first then later down the line bolt on a SC. That way you know your motor will hlod up to all the power you want to get out of the SC. Thats just my thinking but either way your gonna be happy! Youve got the LS1 already so do something with it!

Brad built one for duncans f-body, the last set-up made 470 @ the rear wheels with factory intake, throttle body, & exhaust except for headers. I would eat **** before I strapped anything kenne bell made on my truck. I personally know 3 different individuals who have had nothing but problems. There customer service is horrible.....
