A 'colder' spark plug generally means it retains less heat by conducting more of it to the engine block. If you put a hot plug next to a cold one, the threaded section of the colder plug will be a little shorter. (shorter path for the heat to travel to the block)

As has been said, that's a good thing when you're dealing with the higher-than-normal cylinder pressures encountered with NOX and boosted engines. A 'hot' plug is more likely to pre-ignite the A/F mixture.

Hope this helps.

What gap are you FI guys using on the tr6's? I picked some up and the guy told me to just put them in but the gap seems really big right out of the box?

Im running MSD 8.5's and iridium plugs. I do think that there is at least efficiency to be gained from using a plug with a hotter or cleaner spark. The bigger the spark you have the better the combustion, better the combustion the more horsepower. Is it noticeable? Probably not, but it definitely helps with fuel mileage. Granted most everyone on here isnt exactly concerned with MPG, but if your trucks also a daily driver like mine then every little bit helps.

I have a question about wires...anyone ever used or know someone who has used Nology Hot wires? They guarentee 10HP...seems like a lot from plug wires. And what about hyperground systems that clean up the ground on your vehicle, its supposed to make your elctrical system more efficient and make your a cleaner electrical system turns into more HP, or so they say. Any thoughts?

Ok so i order my plugs and wires got them from ups yesterday I went with NGKtr-55 and Taylor 8.2mm wires i cant say that i notice a h.p. gain but everyone already knows that you wont get much from plugs and wires if any especially with how short they are in my truck but i definatley noticed a smoother idel and better throttle respnse no more bogging when i first step on it and that is exactly what i was lookinh to do thanks for all your imput guys...

Oh and the funny thing is when i called the dealership to get my gap setting (dont have a manuel yet) the service guys was like "I hope your using replacement acdelco plugs and wires anything else will not perform nearly as well" i told him what i was going with and hes like i dont know sounds kinda risky i told him that i had alot of great imput from a ton of people with personal experiance with set ups like this he told me to keep the old stuff just incase ... i did but not because he told me to just cause i keep everything "my wife hates it, i have a whole storage cabinet in the garage full of old parts from vehicles i dont even have any more" anyway back to the story he also asked me how many miles i had on it and told him 33k he said theres no way you should have to change out plugs and wires this soon changing them wont help you if its even slightly missfiring it will through a check engine light ok whatever but i have a rough idle and sluggish throttle response he said that what i was doing wouldnt change a thing

im not syaing that these service guys at my local dealership are idiots but come on better plugs and wires will help even if i just replaced the old with brand new stock it show some improve am i wrong ...
