Everything I've read on forums says not to, I'll try it that way. Do you reinstall the shields and if so how? If there not bolted or welded on do they just slip over boot cover?

Idk why someone would tell you not to. I always remove the wires with the metal around them. All it is is a metal cover with a spring at the bottom. They don't do anything and come out easily with the wires. Never had a problem doing it that way.

yea, its just what your saying is the opposite...http://www.tahoeforum.com/showthread.php?t=15420

Then again just saw another post that agrees with you on a second forumn

I appreciate the help, just dont want to mess up my truck and have to get it towed somewhere when it wont start. Well I am going to go give it a try, hopefully with the universal joint I just bought I will be able to get to all of them with that and extenions.

Do you torque your plugs? I have the specs somewhere around here in my haynes manual

Here's a pic of the same wire with and without the shield, it simply slips on and off. NOTHING TRICKY. Just pull on the shield!

Oh man, you beat me to it! I was just about to upload a picture to help people as well. It went really well for mem thanks guys. From searching on the internet, there were a lot of questions about this that are now solved. I did the drivers side fairly easily, then the passengers side took me 15 minutes to change 3, BUT I cant get to the one in the back on that side.

Its crammed next to the AC unit, and I think Id have to jack it up, take off the wheel and inner fender liners and then I would probably still have no leverage to yank it off. (my plug wires were on there pretty good, 118000 miles, using the factory items)

Im probably going to take it to a shop to do that one, if only I had a lift...Ill make up the money in time I will be working vs trying to replace that last one I think haha

Also I bought the cheapest pair of performance tool boot pullers I could find, which worked once i took the rubber gurards off the pliers end so I could grip those shields
