Default Performance Questions(kinda long)

My buddy has a 02 Silverado 2500 HD crewcab 4x4. He has the 6000 vortech auto with 4.10s. He got the Hypertec PP III. What should he set his shift points at? Should he firm up his shifts? He does do some heavy towing with this truck. Also, who makes a good cold air induction for this truck? Ive heard of Airaid, any good? Im a LS1 camaro guy and I told him you guys could help him out. Any mild performance suggestios would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Since he does heavy duty towing, he could use that as an excuse to buy a blower. He could also get a catback system. he could get Granetelli MAF, or descreen and port his stock one. As for air intakes he could get the UDP air intake, there one of the sponsors here, and they have got the best reviews. a shift kit might help him out a bit Level 10 transmissions has a kit for his trans. Good Luck

Since he has the 4.10, you may want to set the rev limiter to 6200 rpm and then try:

1-2 shift +3
2-3 shift +10
3-4 shift 0

It's a matter of preference but make sure you do your calculations correctly. I don't have the Hypertech shift tables in front of me. I would think you would want to try these numbers first and then adjust accordingly.

I assume he has a tow/haul mode on that truck like the 1500's. The Hypertech won't do anything for him (performance tunning and tranny wise) unless he is at WOT. I would suggest going about his normal towing with the tow/haul ON. Yukon has some good #'s there, but like I said, only at WOT. As for the intake, UPD seems to be that "IN" thing right now. I have gone through a Airraid and have a K&N now. The UPD has a better price than K&N and better performance than Airraid. Good Luck....
