Default People with mufflers/no cats stop in...

I just finished my head and cam swap this week and on the test drive my exhaust is really loud and pops/crackles a lot more. Before I had just shorty headers cats and the y-pipe and it was loud then but not as much poppin/cracklin. So now I'm thinkin about runnin just mufflers with no cats and dumping it over the axle. Just want to know what everyone's preference is on type/brand of muffler.

I was gonna say the popping and cracklin is from running rich after the install. Then i read your running straight pipe.
Run Long tubes 3" mid-pipe and a magnaflow. You'll see a big increase over shorties and straight pipe.
But make sure you re-tune.

Mines cracklin right now after my swap cuz my tuner's busy.

well u oddviously know because u had no mufflers it was loud before but since u had ur heads done i would go with some magnaflow's and some longtubes. when i installed my LT's it smoothed out my exhaust note a bit. also if u dump them over the rear axle it will loud, well i know u'll have a lot of in cab drone. a lot of people have changed their setup's because it was too loud n the cab.

you plan on a single exhaust or dual exhaust? If single, put a Dynomax bullet infront of whatever muffler you choose in order to quieten it down.

I already have long tube headers (see sig). Probably go with true duels, a h-pipe, then some type of muffler, then dumped over the axle. I'm looking for a deep exhuast note. The loudness isn't bad so much as the popping/cracklin.

The Magnaflow got rid of all my rasp. It's an 18x6 round. My truck is quieter now than before the radix. My setup was stock manifolds, stock cats and a Corsa sport. now I've got LT's, no cats, the magnaflow and the Corsa. If you don't want to reduce the volume, don't go with the magnaflow.

I think its just a fact if you have no cats. I have no cats with LTs and had a spintech pro street. I put a spintech sportsman on it and it quieted it down and helped the rasp and popping.

I have lt's with a hooker aerochamber dumped over the axle and it pops a decent bit when i let off the gas if i had run it up fairly high.
Is that the problem are just all the time popping?

Before the lt and head/cam swap it would mainly just pop like your talking about, after getting the rpms up then letting off the gas. But now anything other than just cruising it wants to pop very loudly.
