Default PCV issues, oil filed intake

Cranked my 08 H2 (6.2L) and a cloud of smoke came bellowing out the exhaust.

I purchased this truck used with 140,000 miles on the truck, the precious owner didn't take care of it like he should have so I've been slowly getting it back into shape.

I found the valve cover baffle for the PCV orifice plugged and the intake full of oil (looked like a half quart of oil). I've got it all apart and getting everything cleaned up and ready to go back together.

Looking for some suggestions on cleaning the internal of the intake. I've looked around on the net and looks like there are a couple methods one being submerging it into a tub of hot water and some simple green degreaser or spraying it full of degreaser and using a toilet brush to run into the intake and try and scrub every inch of the intake and then flush out with water.

Maybe the ideal thing to do is to do both and see how it comes out,

what do the masses here do to clean the internal of an LS intake?

thanks Neal

Parts cleaner, brake cleaner or hot soapy water with dawn dish soap.

You'll get most of it for sure.

Thinking of adding a low mount catch can for extra measure, any thoughts on the catch can?

I could hopefully catch it early enough to prevent any oil from getting to the intake if the valve covers ever plugged up again.

I'm confident it wont happen again because I take care of my vehicles better than the last owner did and I only use full synthetic oil.

Go with a Mighty Mouse CC. Always a good call...
