Default Patriot Springs

I'm looking at springs for a friends cam swap. Need something with more lift than the LS6 springs so I was looking at Patriots line up as I need to stay with something that isn't crazy expensive.

Anyone have any useful info on the 8454 or 8412 dual springs?

The cam i'm wanting to run in his 4.8 is 214/220 .559/.564 110+4 (106 ICL) XE lobes with Circle D 3200 Stall.

Do you think the 8412's would be a good route or go with the 8454's since they have better pressure?

That isn't a whole lot of lift and XE lobes aren't overly aggressive, you could get away with PAC 1218 springs no problem...actually you could even do yellow LS6 springs if cost is a factor. Lingenfelter uses the LS6 springs with more lift than that...

The only negative i have heard about patriot springs are thier Ti retainers are on the heavy side. I am not sure if that is true or not.

just curious, why would it be bad if they were heavier than other retainers?

supposedly the lighter the valvetrain componets the more power you will make in the upper rpms... a motor turning 6500rpm, every little ounce helps.... at least that is what i read... I thought that was the whole purpose of running Ti retainer because they were light... I may be wrong thou...
