Default out of the hole performance

hey guys i picked up a farely stock truck today from a buddy whos going through some hard times, its an 03 like mine, it has 3.73's, 4.8, has exhaust no CAI (probably going to do something custom). I want to get more torque out of it on the low end but not wanting to invest to much money so rule out the supercharges and nitrous, preferably i dont want to go lower than the 3.73's, i have a 3000ish stall converter i got from work and i was curious as to if it would help out with this without having a cam, and would i need to retune the truck for the stall or could i run it like it is?

That 3000 stall TC will help with your holeshots, esp with your stock cam.
