I'd hate to be the SOB that comes in here and beats a dead horse after the rodeo is over but I would also say listen to them.

I have the infamous truck intake from FAST.

For the sealing issues: the sealing issues as far as I know were with the earlier gray design. They remolded it and changed the color to black. I have the black version. I checked it for true with a square before installing and had no sealing issues aside from having to tighten the manifold bolts after a month or two.

Other than that it doesn't come with a plug for those of you that will be using hydraboost instead of vac brake booster. I had to hunt around for the right sized plug.

The intake also barely fits under a truck cowl. BARELY. It is a pita to install. I had to remove my alternator to install. Had to bend the steam tubes as well. One of the steam tubes is bent up and backwards behind the alternator bracket.

Another issue is that your factory wiring will have to go somewhere else. The intake has no provisions to retain the wiring like the stock intakes do. I just zip tied mine for now.

One final note. Yes the manifold can be purchased from Maryland Speed (highly recommended sponsor) for 850 dollars right now. But you will have to purchase a 50 dollar bracket kit to keep the tube style fuel rails. Be warned that the metal cross over tube needs to be monkeyed with to get it to fit. To avoid that you would have to spend additional dollars for the FAST fuel rail kit. If you want to retain the factory TB or a TB w/o the same number of studs as the manifold takes then you have to also purchase an additional adapter plate. $$$$ Plan wisely!

Don't even get me started on FAST fuel injectors. Mother F bomb.

So yea the FAST intake isn't for everyone. The only reason I don't have a S/C on this truck is that I am pretty much at the HP level I want to be at and I don't care to spend additional money on the engine at this time.

IMO S/C is a better route than HCI. Just my two cents. More impressive when you open the hood as well.

Knew there was a reason i went with a stock l92 intake on my truck, aside from the fact FAST doesnt make a rectangular port truck intake, i was told by one of the guys at fast that they have no intentions of making a truck version simply because they cant improve on the factory intake enough to make it worth while, which tells me the gen iv intake whether cathedral or rectangular is the way to go... If you want to soend money on it have it ported... $150 tbss intake.... $275 for basic port job through peak.... Money saved!!!
