Another reason is the TBSS that came stock is butt ugly!
Unless you plan on running at 7000 rpm all the time (according to the link you posted) there isnt enough hp/tq difference across the typical usable part of the curve to justify the price of the lsxrt.... Unless you just really hate the look of the stock intake and have an extra $1000 laying around somewhere that you cant think of a better way to blow!!! My suggestion would be to put a nnbs cover over the intake you have and run with it...and if you really want to do something with it send it out and have it ported...

Either way, what has been said are words to follow.

It's not worth the money and your time. Like george said, you need far more than just a intake manifold to make this work. So for upwards of $1500-2000 for just a intake and 20hp, you could add a camshaft and maybe some exhaust and be miles ahead in the horsepower department.

All true. At $2k, you're almost half way to a blower.

The unit I was looking at retails for about $1000 which means I can find it on sale for about $800 if I'm patient and I can use my stock fuel rails.

This can be done much cheaper than what you are talking about.

I already have a performance throttle body as well as over 30 years in automotive repair so I can research and learn anything I need to know and get it done.

You seem to think 20 HP is not work my time and money, but I can afford it so since I just want a little extra gain without ripping off the heads and installing a new cam I'm happy with small gains and I totally understand that I could have bigger gains if other mods were made.

Not everyone is out to build a beast and some folks can afford to buy what they want. I just want a little extra HP. If I wanted a beast I'm rip out my stock 5.3L and go with something bigger.

I've done a lot of research since my original post and the FAST LSXR 102mm is the one that will fit what I'm trying to do. So, thanks for the input.

Sounds like you've posted a question in which you think you already knew the answer too. If I was you I was listen to these guys. They know what they're talking about. If you feel like blowing money just for looks then more power to you. They're just being logical. Money to HP wise not a smart option.

You are better off spending the money on some simple boltons. You can gain 20hp easy without spending that kind of cash. New muffler, tune and longtubes will help you hit your goals for less cash.
