Default operation more powerful camshaft just got a name change

From this day on, let it be known that Operation More Powerful Camshaft will now be known as Operation HOLY F@%K HOW DID THAT VALVE DROP DOWN INTO MY CYLINDER!!!

so yah, im working on the truck, changing the VERY LAST valvespring. 80psi in the cylinder, badam pull the spring and the valve falls straight down like a bia!!

ive been yanking **** off of it to get it ready to pull the heads but still have some things i need to do and am at the point that i needed to invest in some directions off the trusty 'ol net

Need to look at this in a positive manner though. Any performance oriented person in their right mind would get their heads milled if they were going to be comming off the engine

so now its going to be a 218/219 532/532 114 camshaft with heads milled 30

sorta sucks, but sorta cool..... Oh well, what can ya do...

Man that sucks but, your right. Might as well get some work done to those heads while they're off.

Why not get a valve job done also while they're off. Maybe the one that fell didn't have a good seal so it didn't take much to knock it in.

Good luck with the rest of the install

Really Slow, I doubt it. I am about to attempt same job and hate to hear of you trouble. If I drop a valve I'll cuss a little then pull the head. I have about 40k on my 5.3 but like you I can't afford the down time.Did you pull the intake? Is it necessary? Jim

tntrk, its not necissary to pull the intake for doin a cam swap. but it is for pulling the heads. i wouldnt mind at all if head gasket sets werent so damned expensive!
