Bryan - Matt has a set of 5.3 gaskets for sale. I have head bolts for both heads. That should speed up your recovery.

Sorry to hear about the trouble.

I tried to calculate out some compression ratio scenarios for your 4.8L motor. It looks like it must have flat top pistons (TX Term, can you look at yours and verify this?). With a .030 mill on the heads, you will raise compression just about 10:1. Check on the felpro head gaskets that sloverado has. They may have less compressed thickness than the stock gaskets. I know the LS1 felpro gaskets are .043" compressed compared to .054" stock.

richard, will it say the compressed thickness and all that on the package? if it does i'll run down to the shop and get them to look.

the head gaskets are for 99-up 4.8/5.3 LS1 truck heads.i can go get them and give you a part number if you want. i bought them for mine when i was gonna pull the heads a while back for some maintenance but decided not to do it. i'll go get those gaskets right now to check them out.
