Slow truck, I feel your pain . Been there done that. I dropped a lifter though. Had to remove a head and the oil pan. Had to remove the front axle though to get the oil pan out.

Slow truck had 16 magnets for all the lifters - he was playing it safe.

talk about a pain in the ***.........

you're giving me flashbacks of the ridiculous case of the snapped bolt......no better feeling than being stranded with shitty drills and bits......

yup john, thats what i was thinking. when i had my hamms put on i ended up having to pull them back off myself cause the damn paper gaskets were leaking. those factory ones are big pimpin!

dino, ur tellin me, what a pain in the ***

there is one bolt left on the head. i am getting a minor case of vaginitis and am only going to be pulling that one head and replacing it with a oem valve so it will be the same compressed thickness as the other head. i just want my truck running again lol

you know...the last ime I changed valave springs on a SBC someone gave ma a killer idea that I tried and it worked great.....with the cylinder at TDC pull ths spark plug and feed some 1/4" cotton rope into the cylinder...use alot of rope and a screwdriver if you have to to really stuff the rope in....just make sure there is a long tail sticking out so you can pull it out when you are done....it will prevent the valves from dropping into the cylinder, and because it is cotton it will not scratch or damamge the combustion chamber...this was an absolutly killer trick that I will definitly use again....

After a valve got to know a piston in my GTO I was sad and poor. The old 350 (P) was dead. But now, two years later I have paid off the credit card and the 455 (P) GTO now runs 10's on pump gas.

so just remember "every thing happens for a reason"

and say it out loud, if you say it just in your head it may start sounding like "Anything can happen with a razor"
