Default okay...so ls1?

i know vicred did an ls1 swap in his nbs truck but as anyone else done it? im debating which would be better to do...ls2 or ls1...i could get an ls1 for cheaper and built it up but would it install easily into my truck or would a lot of modifications have to be done?

LS1 will bolt right in, just reuse your truck intake manifold and accesories/ brackets then get a tune and you are set

LS2 would be a bit more tricky I think

I have a LS1 in my truck as well as quite a few others here. It was direct drop in using all the truck accs and intake.
The LS2 will physically bolt in but provisions will need to be made for the different location of the knock sensors and cam position sensor.

so ls1 would be the smarter move...ive noticed that trucks with ls1s over 6.0s are getting into the 12s faster...so how easy would it be to get a 99 rcsb into the 12s with an ls1? im thinkin LT228 cam from SDPC, yank 3000 stall, hp tuners tuned or nelson, and possibly just ported heads with 1.8 roller rocker arms and 918 springs? that good enough for 12s on 3.73 gears and possibly a built 60e from finishline trannsmissions? or should i just go with an 80e? im tryin to think the best way to get a 12 second daily driver and try to do it all for around 5000 if possible to start...i know it might take more as i go along but if i can get the engine, heads, cam, springs, tranny, stall, and either hp tuners or a nelson tune for around 5k then i think thats a pretty good deal unless you guys think i can do it for less then that then please fill me on on help hahahaha

If I had 5 grand to spend, I would just do the base STS kit and ditch the LS1 idea. You'd still have a grand left over for long tube headers, shift kit, and TB stall. 12's easy...

plus i found a company that you can get a built ls1 from for about 4000...i cant do longtubes because i live in cali unless i buy the dynatech set and they are 1200 bucks so i get a stall and a tune after i drop in the engine and im right at 5 grand because the engine will already have upgraded heads, springs, pushrods, cam and oil pump
