We considered the 408, but decided for more power than that. We then looked into a 440 BB. He went through Big Al's Toy Box to look at his wedge motors and gave him a call. After everthing considered and the hugh break Al gave him, he went Chevy. For a 440 BB of the same power level would have cost him 16,000 and it would have been w/out carbs and polished blower. He paid 10,500 for the engine. It really boiled down to overall cost on the choice. A Hemi 426 was really high(20+).
He should be getting his truck running shortly. 850 HP 92 pump gas, 1050HP 108 racing gas. Headers have taking forever to get right.

my brother in law has a '00 r/t, and he's fooled around with a few combos....the 360 + blower got him mid 13's, then he had muscle motors build him a 408 and mach performance built him a twin turbo setup, but the motor crapped before he could even run it with the forced induction........he sent all his internals to dan arcand in minnesota and he's building the 408 with a mopar r block right now....each turbo is capable of 500hp and the block is strong enough to handle it, so we'll see what happens this spring......btw, i woulda taken the wedge over the hemi anyways!
well, your friends ram looks cool, and i'm sure it hauls, just doesn't seem right to me

I know. It was his choice. I like the 440 wedge better. Has a nicer torque curve than the 454, but he saved $5000 for other stuff.
It's also not right to modify the hell out of a collector truck also.
