When I did the swap on my wifes 01 we had to use the v8 compressor and lines, the v6 compressor would not bolt up to the v8 bracket.

I put an 01 6.0/4l80 in in place of the 4.3/4l60. The ac has worked perfectly.

As for gen 3 or gen 4 i am not sure if the compressor brackets changed or not.

Default NV3500 - Any differences between V6 & V8 versions?

NV3500 - Any differences between 2wd V6 & V8 versions?

I've read through the entire thread, but didn't find a definite answer. From another source, I've read that the bellhousing bolt pattern is different and also the input shaft is different between the 2. Here, the general opinion is that the 4.3 NV3500, will work with an LS V8. Can anyone clear this up?

Has anyone swapped an LS V8 into a V6 NV3500 equipped truck? Or will I need a V8 specific NV3500? (or other option - T56)

One other question: If there isn't any difference, Can I use a manual from a later V6 truck - say 05-07 classic or possibly 07 - up V6 NV3500?

My truck is an 01 4.3/NV3500 2wd rcsb. Thanks.

This is a very late reply but this info needs to be in this thread.

The v6 5 speed will bolt up to the v8, the only item you will need is the flywheel spacer used on factory v8/5 speed 99-05 trucks.

I'm thinking of buying a 2002 v6 for $3300 and doing the 5.3 swap, how much would it cost to do the whole 5.3 swap?

It comes down to how much you want to spend. Its a very very easy swap. It just gets pricey with the small stuff. I went from 4.3 to lq4 6.0 and Im still getting the fine details worked out. If you go used you can save cash if you upgrade things it gets pricey. Look at possibly 2000-5000 grand it all depends. Is it worth it YES HELL YES. My build 2007 classic 4.3 to LQ4. 3600 stall used texas-speed f body1 7/8 headers and custom cold air intake. And Tune. 2007 Silverado Build
