Out of curiosity, how does that cam sound and how does it drive? Any vids of it?

here's a vid of it idling, cutout open. It doesn't chop anywhere near as hard as I'd like. The current rpm in park is between 750-800.

people with cams, where do you guys normally idle? I was thinking about asking him to adjust it to 500 to get more of that rough idle.

I love the way it drives though. Noticeable power gains in part and full throttle.

The problem with a low idle is it is very unstable and susceptible to stalling, unless you are ok with it slowly getting down there, but it is still unstable.

If the idle is only adjusted while the truck is in park, it shouldn't matter though right? The idle seems to change with I put the truck in drive, and it's under a small load.

I've just wanted a truck or car that "lopes" at idle so bad for so long, it was a little disappointment when this one didn't chop at idle. I just want a LITTLE bit of a chop. haha

Yea, that is probably do able. There are a couple other ways, but the rpm is the easiest way.

would the other ways be adjusting timing at idle?

Timing, overspeed/underspeed correction, and afr would be other ways. If you have VVT you can play with that as well.

Yes those things should help. I would imagine slightly retarding the cam at idle maybe 4-8° would close the intake valve later and give it more chop. Also if the Under/Overspeed timing was reduced ~50% it would also chop harder. I usually add to those on my cammed setups because I want to hide the cam as much as possible. Idling at 750 rpm you can barely tell my old 350 has a cam in it, much less a 218/228 on a 112° LSA. My 2006 Hemi ram had a 212/212 on a 114° LSA and sounded practically stock through the muffler at 650 rpm. Also you can reduce your idle spark down to about 12-16° and it will make it choppier as well.
