Default Newbie 5.3 Mods Question!

I have a 5.3 and was trying to see if these mods would be worth the time/money for me to put them on.. I found a REALLY good deal on a LS2 intake manifold with throttle body and a ls6 cam. I also am looking at the 212/218 comp cam, 243 heads, and headers/efan, yank torque converter..

What do you think would be worth it more from the beginning and should I go LS6 cam for dirt cheap or just wait it out and get a bigger cam? Anyone have experience with these parts?

LS2 intake manifold bolts on to the 5.3 with no problems right? (I know it wont give much gain except top end, if any, but if im redoing everything I can't pass the deal b/c its dirt cheap)

Opinions please, don't hold back. Thanks and BTW its for a Yukon 2wd 3.73's

Don't do the ls6 cam if you plan on staying N/A or doing nitrous. the 212/218 is a proven cam in the 4.8/5.3's. 243 heads are great if you get them milled. You will lose compression if you don't get them milled. Yank makes great converters, but if you're on a budget the Circle-D 278mm like I and many others have is a GREAT option.

X2 on the 212/218 low lift cam. It would be a good torque cam for your heavy suv which I would try and stick with. As stated the 278mm Circle D converters are very affordable if you don't want to spend about $700+ for a smaller diameter converter.

FTI based out of Florida can also custom build you pretty much any size converter you wanted btw and they are affordable too.. I looked more into FTI recently and the owner has a good business going.

The manifold will cost a bit to get working. I would do the rest first.

LS6 cam and 212/218 cams both run good.212/218 has a tad more bottomend torque
I have ran both in my 5.3 N/A

I wouldn't use the car manifold. You can lose a bit of lowent torque. A TBSS or NNBS intake manifold would be a much better choice, and you wouldn't have to mod as much to get it to work. IMO

Something to keep in mind. Make sure your backend can handle the front end, or you aint going nowhere.
