Default New Exhaust Installed

Just got the new exhaust installed. ASM Headers into 2.5 inch true dual, no cats, into a 12468 Magnaflow with built in X pipe. The guy was about to close so he just stuck the old 2.25 inch tailpipes in and welded it so I have to go back sometime for the bigger tailpipes. I was very surprised. It is quiet and no resonation or rasp at all! I am used to it being loud so I don't know what to think but if any of you guys are worried about the off road pipes being loud, just use this muffler. When we left I was getting on it and it feels much faster down low. Even my friend could tell how it spins the tires more than it used to. Magnaflow is the ****!!!

Gonzo I'm not sure what resonce it but mine doesn't do it Seriously bro, I was surprised as hell. You would never guess the cats are removed. It sounds about like a stock Dakota RT if anyone has heard one of those. You can see straight thru the muffler so it blows my mind how it absorbs so much sound.

Sounds like you hit the perfect set up.Mine before the 6.0 i tried several aftermarket mufflers. The last on was a good size magnaflow duel core out single 3" and going through OE cats.It sounded great but the drone at 30-40MPH light throttle in 3rd or 4th slightly step into the rumble and the resonce would be more than i could handle.1600-1900RPM range.

I've always loved Magnaflow - straight through design with perfect sound/no drone

I have one of the largest Magnaflows for a nice quiet cruize then when I want it loud I touch the rocker switch and open the cutout

The 6.0L is a mosnster to elminate drone and very different from the 4.8 and 5.3 in this aspect. I should have the prototype for a new 6.0L muffler done here by the end of the month and then I'll start the destructive testing and flowbench work. Hopefully in the next month or so it will be available and minimize this problem. Industry wide it is a known problem to control low rpm loaded noise on this motor and still make power. Keep in touch and I'll let you know when this new part number is available.

Gonzo, his truck is a single cab. I've heard several single cabs w/o cats that have very little drone. I think its the extended cab that amplifies that noise.

I got the new tailpipes and went to the track the other night. It was 80 degrees. It is 1/4 mile race, but they hadn't got the 1/4 timer working yet, only the 1/8. For some reason it wouldn't clock my truck at the 1/8. I did 4 runs and nothing. Finally on the last run it clocked a 9.5, not sure on the mph because it didn't work. My cluster showed 96 at the 1/4 but I don't know how accurate it is above 90 mph. I can feel a big gain down low with the new exhaust. One of my runs I got a 2.15 60 but the 1/8 didn't come up. All the other 60s were 2.2s. It sounds pretty mean above 4000 RPM. This weekend I will go to a track that works . I had the fastest truck there, I beat a early 80s one that was trailored there and had a huge cam and who knows what else. Looking forward to some new 1/4 times this Friday and hopefully cooler weather.
