Default New Bolt-up Build

Like many guys here currently, I'm working on my new build. Using my Gen 1 engine in my sig, I'm going for more power at rpms. My truck already has tons of torque but not enough horsepower and only to about 5000-5400. So here's my fix:

AFR 195 COMP 74cc heads - on order, 4 more weeks I hope
Edelbrock Victor EFI intake - got it, cleaning it up with the dremel
Holley 1000 cfm 4-barrel throttlebody - got it
Hooker 1.75 long tube headers - got em
NOS Square-bore Plate - got it
Vortech V-7 YSi - on order, 2 weeks I hope
Schneider Cam 244*/244*@.549 112LSA - got it

Ran this set-up on Desktop Dyno and it should be killer at 15lb boost even without nitrous. I'm also shopping on a 4L80E and a Ford 9 inch. I know most of you guys are LS1 and into a turbo or a Radix-Whipple-Magnusson type charger but I thought I'd stick with what I know.

I have 1 question though. With the 74cc heads to keep 8:1 cr, I need to either mill them or use a .015 gasket. Which would you do?

I don't think a thin gasket is wise on a supercharged engine. But what do I know?

Mill the heads. You want a little thicker head gasket for better sealing since there are some inperfections on the block deck and the head deck. The smallest I have seen someone go on headgasket thickness is .025 personally.

I am with Okie, after o-ring you should be able to use a regular thickness gasket.

Thanks, I didn't even think of that. Summit has Felpro .015 head sets but that did seem a little lacking.

IMO cometic is the only way to go that or the SCE titan head gaskets they are the best. Some get away with stock MLS headgaskets but I would get the better ones dont skimp on the stuff you really need to be strong.
