Default nelson tune

ok i have a 05 silverado with a 5.3l w\ intake and magnaflow catback and i want to get it tuned for some extra hp..when i get it tuned how much TM should i take off and how much is safe. all im planning on doing to the truck is pullies and tune and thats it i want to keep the trans in it and not break anything..please tell me what i should get done in this tune and what should i look out for to keep my truck running for a long time.another question is when im on it and it shifts to 3rd the RPM's stay at 3500 and dont move untill i hit the speed limiter.. i was racing lastnight and was neck and neck with another truck (has a nelson tune) and as soon as i hit 3rd it was like i got off it and he blew by.. is this something with TM and can be took off with a tune or is my truck just week.. ps the other truck was a 4.8 thanx for the help

Since you dont have a shift kit I would only get about 70% tm removed. You should probably get your shift points set to 6200 also.

I had no shift kit and i had 100% removed and have had no problems at all for around 35000 miles or so... I just orderd my shift kit and accesories.... so I would personally go with 100% removal but... its up to you...

if ur not planning on doing major mods then just get the hpp3, itll fix that for u. the other truck just had his shiftpoints higher, so when u shifted he just kept going

get the nelson tune. you will not be dissappointed. it can make it all work and run better. get 80% tqm removed only without a shift kit.

You might be feeling torque management when you shift into 3rd, Mine stock would feel like you let off the throttle and then after the shift was gradually applying the throttle again. Thats just it, the later trucks not only pull timing at the shift point, but with the electronic throttle, it also closes the throttle even when your foot is on the floor. I don't think the hpp3 will delete any torque management, but a custom tune will, and I would go about 60-70% or what ever Nelson recommends
